Wow ddrueding1, you do have a lot of USB devices in use, and certainly quite a few that could use bandwidth.

Is your case mostly empty? :)

I am at about the opposite end of the spectrum. I usually have a hub plugged in (next to my monitor), and a mouse in back, and then sometimes plug in one thumb drive or USB external hard drive in front ports, but almost never at the same time.

Certainly, this rev. 2.0 upgrade would be a better match for your usage than for mine.

So, any word on when this will be available? I'm beginning to think it will be a quiet replacement for the previous revisions, and you won't be able to specify which one you will get without someone to open it for you. Looking at boards online, I don't see revision numbers for them.

As for my USB usage, 8 may be a bit much but I would like at least 6 in the back. I can use up at least 3 just for wireless transmitters (Bluetooth, keyboard, mouse) and I still need ports for a game controller or two, a printer, and at least one available for a future device.

Happy to report that as of today the BIOS download for the rev 2.0 of P35-DS3R is available on the gigabyte site. And it seems it's exacly the same as the BIOS for rev 1.0 :)

p.s. I'd put a link here but the forum complains this is my first post so I still can't do that.

This was to be expected as nothing really changed on the boards except for the slight changes in layout and the rearrangement of components. The performance of the boards should stay the same as with the older revisions.

BTW, I think it's best to buy (if possible) a Rev. 1.0 GA-P35-DS3P as it has got that massive copper heatsink on the northbridge which is now replaced with a cheaper looking aluminium heatsink on the new revision boards.

Anyone running 4 x 1GB RAM in their P35 mobo's?

If so, which mobo are you using and at what speeds?

I've had issues getting 4 sticks to run "at speed" with previous chipsets. Was wondering how stable the P35 and gigabyte boards (in particular) are.

The price on Newegg for this board just went up $10 today. :x Could that mean they have the new revision or is the price just fluctuating?

To continue this off-topic diversion for a bit longer:

Yeah I've read some....all of it actually ;)
When I was first going online 7-8 years ago I did some head scrathing and though - better this than "mutant-zombie-robot from outer space" or something ;) It is miss-spelled to "Rinswind" because it was full of "Rincewinds" out there already.

And 10x for the welcome.

I am running 4 x 1GB of DDR2 667 RAM without issue at 1.8volts with the DS3R and an e6750. I have no issues that I know of and I have been running for a week. In fact, I had been running at an overclock of 3.2GHz (DDR2 800) most of the time, though I did bump the memory voltage to 1.9 for extra measure. All this on version 1.0 of the board.

I am back at stock settings now. The overclocking for me was a bit of a test rather than a quest. I am nothing short of amazed at the power efficiency of the e6750. It exceeded my expectations in terms of performance and temperature.

/edit: The memory brand is SuperTalent.

Well, my order for the DS3P came from Newegg today and it was the 1.1. So, they're still out there for those that want the legacy ports.

Oh, if anyone is still interested in this, I sent Gigabyte a mail a week ago or more, they replied and said that shipping of the Rev 2.0 boards would start in September.

But of course it can take a bit more time until they actually get to the resellers.

it seems that DS4 rev 2.0 have a lot smaller heat-pipe chipset cooler then rev 1.0

no rev 2.0 for the p35-ds3L from NCIX yet. Just picked one up today (rev 1) along with a Ultima-90.. They were the final parts collected for my new setup:

p35-ds3l
q6600
4x1gb firestix pc2-6400
x1950 pro
ultima-90
antec p150

now to set it all up.. anyone know some good forums/ guides for the gigabyte p35 mobos? bios settings, chipset drivers, etc..??

Can anyone tell me how long are Gigabyte's eSATA cables? Both data and power cables.

Thanks.

With my Gigabyte P35 DS4 motherboard you get one E-SATA data cable and one power cable included.

The bracket has two E-SATA connectors but you only get a single cable. :(

The Gigabyte E-SATA data cable (measured end to end) is 55cm long.

The Gigabyte E-SATA power cable (measured end to end) is 50cm long.

Thanks. They're even shorter than I thought. At least a meter! :(

Any where I can order from to make sure I geta 2.0 version board? It seems newegg is shipping them, but knowing my luck, I'll get the last non-2.0 version. :)

Thanks,
