I'm about to buy a quad core CPU + motherboard. I've decided to buy a Q9400 or Q9550 and a P43 motherboard, but I'd like to know if there are any flaws to my logic.
I'm under the impression that:
1) a 45nm C2Q runs cooler than a Phenom II X4, at full load
2) a C2Q CPU has a higher temperature limit that a Phenom II
3) a P43 motherboard can operate at a higher case temperature than a 770/780G motherboard
According to this reasoning, I should be able to run a C2Q with less fans and/or run them at lower speeds than a Phenom II would allow.
Any of you think this is nonsense and that a Phenom II would be more quiet?
