Hi, I currently have the whisper Enermax 365 power supply, and the fan that comes with it is somewhat loud. Can I open it and stick in one of those panaflo 92mm L or Papst 92mm?

I think so, actually I'm in the process of doing that.
Actually I would appreciate some feedback too: do you all recommend replacing the 92mm or the 80mm fan? I'm thinking of getting rid of both factory fans and use just one.

well my computer became a lot quieter after I took out the exhaust fan on the Enermax. I hope this is safe...?

I took out both the fans in my enermax and replaced the 92mm with a Papst, running at 5 volts.
My PSU runs just fine, and has for several months with this setup. The exhaust air is alittle warmer than stock, but not much so.

hi Rusty, how would you describe the noise on your Enermax with the Papst?

virtually inaudible.
With the fan being buried inside the case, and not on the back panel, I can't hear it at all unless I actually stop the other fans in my system. In normal use its drowned out by my 120mm Panaflo thats running at 4 or 5 volts.

At first I just used masking tape during the "testing phase". I've since changed that to a thin piece of aluminum that I had lying around. I just glued it to the inside of the PSU housing.

I have an Enermax whisper quiet 365P VE-FC...how do I control the exhaust fan with the motherboard?? I'm new at this, thanks.

Ther's a 3-pin connector that goes into one of the mobo's case fan headers. The mobo can't control the fan speed unless it has some internal software/feature to do this, but you can monitor the rpm off that header. The fan speed is tied to both the internal thermistor as well as the manual knob on the outside. Read previous posts & the article referenced.

Thanks for the help Mike. On this particular PS, there is no manual knob for fan control...but there is an internal thermistor. Going to troubleshoot some more...

What model papst? I'm thinking of modding my enermax as well, but just replacing the fans with some papsts.
