Nexus NX-3000- Anyone done a fan mod on this PSU?

I have a Nexus NX-3000 and feel it could be quieter- still noticeably loud to me, although under a fairly heavy load from a multi HD system.

I am considering moding the fan with an Acoustifan 80ct, like Ed Ng did to his Antec PSU (and I also did with an Antec).

Has anyone modded this particular PSU? Would anyone recommend NOT to for any reason?

I cant se how it could hurt.. Apart from the obvious risk of electric shock if your not careful

If you dont already know, find out what fan it uses currently and put a better fan than that in.. Though it seems like you know as you have already chosen a fan

I'm thinking exactly what you are!! Thinking of replacing the fan with a papst 12dba, hehe... but i can't find the fan info of the nexus 3000 :/ would be good to know the airflow of it before changing and not risking overheating....

Perhaps you should mod a couple of test points for the fans voltage - if it reaches 12V regularly then the fan probably isnt providing enough cooling and you should switch it back?

if you are going to mod this PSU, you will have to cut the wires as they are soldered on a mini PCB. then you have to either resolder the new fan wires on or use a fanmate.
