Enermax NoiseTaker "2.0"

Post by BrianF » Fri Apr 22, 2005 8:43 am

I could swear this was not on their site last week.

Looks like the 425 and 475 models have been updated with the 24pin (a nice 20+4 unit rather than an adapter), 6pin PCIE connector, etc.

B,

I've had this model for several months now. The only difference between this one and the one they tested is the more flexible cable treatment, the emi ring, and the v2.0 updates. The model is have is in my sig so I will check it just to make sure. It's hard to keep up with new models. I have noticed that parts of the enermax website have been down over the past week or so. - FG

On the other hand the v1.3 models are at really good prices. The good thing about newegg is they have really good pictures for identifying changes and making sure you are getting what you want.

Truth be told, I'm holding out for SPCR to report on the Antec TruePower 2.0s before I make a decision....

That's funny. I just ordered a truepower 2.0 500w and should have it in a few days. I like the inline fans, and although the enermax doesn't ramp up or suffer because of the bottom fan, in principle, I want the heat exhausted through the rear case fan and not through the psu. - FG

DO please post your initial impressions when you get it. Nothing against Enermax or SeaSonic, but I can get Antec wholesale throught work so if the noise level is not obseen, I'll be ordering either the 380 or 430.

OK. The 500w comes with detachable cables otherwise I would have gotten something smaller. I'm already planning to do fan swaps, but if its not sucking up heat from the cpu it might just need the rear fan which is supposed to come on first. - FG

Are we talking about the same thing?

I dont see a 500W, nor any with detacheable cables, nor any with a rear fan (expect the 550EPS)...

Oh. I can't keep those names straight for some reason. Well, I'll let you know how the Smartpower 2.0 turns out anyway.

smartpower 2.0

Post by frankgehry » Mon Apr 25, 2005 6:16 pm

I received my smartpower 2.0 today and have only had time to set it up on my desk with a psu tester and let it run. The front 80 comes on first and since I could not see it I did not realize it was running. The fan just barely spins and is silent. The detachable cables are definitely a nice feature, but the main thing is the inline fans. It will be interesting to see when the rear fan starts up. - FG
