SeaSonic S12-430 has a 20 pin connector?
SeaSonic S12-430 ATX12V 430W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817151023
MSI RS480M2-IL Socket 939
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... etailSpecs
CHAINTECH VNF4/Ultra Socket 939
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813152049
I am trying to decide between these two motherboards with that powersupply.
My concern came in when i read the reviews for the Chaintech.
Someone stated i needed a 20 pin power PSU and i'm not sure how to tell if that PSU has 20 pins
Any help would be appreciated. THanks

The Seasonic are 24 pins but they include a 24/20pin adaptor.preti9cboi wrote:SeaSonic S12-430 ATX12V 430W

As for using the S12-430 with the above Mobo (MSI RS480M2-IL) is an overkill IMO.
Try this: http://www.pcalchemy.com/index.php?cPat ... lter_id=38
cheaper than Newegg... I just bought a second one from them... they are good!
I have the same Mobo with an S12-330w and it is plenty!
Excellent Motherboard by the way... you don't need a Graphic Card if you are not a gamer.!

I was just planning to hook up an x800xl.
I believe the x800xl recommends a 300 w psu so i just wanted to make sure i had a psu with enough power.
The only thing i'm going to have hooked up to the thing really is ermm....just the X800xl, dvd drive, cd-rw drive, floppy, and two harddrives. I'm not building a HTPC. I might in the future if i find an attractive casing. Just play games really. Heh
Maybe one or two more things? But do you really believe that is overkill? How much power do you think is good enough. What about 380?
I also wanna keep this psu for a while so i wouldnt have to upgrade it as much. Thanks a lot though. =D
O yeah, i like that website you gave me. How long would it take to deliever to louisiana? If i had second day shipping it would be just about the same price as newegg. hmm.....

Jab-tech has Nexus 120mm fans at a good price. And even cheaper if you include it with an XP-120 order.
Can you clarify this, MikeC? You mean S12-430 will soon be supplied with a different kind of connector? What kind of? So no adapter meaning no additional resistance to lower voltages?MikeC wrote:It's an ATX12v v2.x psu; it has a 24-pin connector by definition. It comes with an adapter; they will soon change to the 20+4 adjustable type.
S12-380w may be alright! Seasonic delivers the Watts it says... not like Others which sometimes don't even deliver half what they say when it is hot!preti9cboi wrote:I believe the x800xl recommends a 300 w psu so i just wanted to make sure i had a psu with enough power.

Also an oversized PSU may not reach peak efficiency as quickly as a the right sized psu!
Shipping took mine from Monday (order)... Delivery: Friday! (Ground UPS To Central Florida))
To Louisiana It should be delivered by Th. or even Wed.(if ordered by Monday morning!)
The Chaintech VnF4 has a 24 pin connector, it will operate properly with a 20 pin (the extras pins are wired to their 20 pin equivelents). Be careful the 20 pin is plugged into the proper end of the 24 pin socket. Personally I would recommend a 24 pin for a performance 3d card reduce the load on the psu wiring.
Here you can see what you can run on a 300W psu:preti9cboi wrote:... How much power do you think is good enough. What about 380?

This is what Mike means by a 20+4 connector.paapaa wrote:Can you clarify this, MikeC? You mean S12-430 will soon be supplied with a different kind of connector? What kind of? The extra four pins are detachable if they are not needed, so you're right, no adaptor required.
