Does anyone have any experience with any of these:

FSP250-60THA, FSP300-60THA, FSP350-60THA, FSP400-60THA
ATX300-PA, ATX350-PA, ATX400-PA

or any other newer 8cm fan Fortrons?

They seem to have the potential to work well in a P180, although they may require fan swaping. The PA's seem to be a lot cheaper than the THA's and THN's.

This fortron may be worth looking into. It has a noisy fan, but other than that is was given an excellent review - http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/other/ ... su_10.html

It has longer that usual cables for use in servers and you could probably remove the fan, open the vents on the intake side and just use the p180 duct fan. - FG

It sells for 69.99 at directron. I'd like to get one myself.

But on fortron's siteit says it only has "65% min" efficiency, unlike the THA's and PA's which they say have "70% min" like they say of the blue storms. Also, that PSU looks very crowded, and the heatsinks aren't exceptionally large. The heatsinks appear to be made for mostly bottom intake, the newer fortrons have less openings at the bottom than the older ones of which there are pictures of the bottom side.

Just noticed that the GLC's (and the 12cm GLN's) claim 75% minimum efficiency.

That roundup says that the fan control circuit of the PN's is worse than that of the THN's. So hopefully all of fortron's ATX2.0 PSU's have decent fan control and the THA's should, if they have a lot in common with THN's like the names and prices imply.

Just noticed that the FSP350/400-60GLN's are the same thing as the FSP green power. So that should make the the GLC an 8cm fan version of the green power, to bad it's apparently just as unavailable in north america. I wonder if it also has tiny heatsinks?

There seem to be a lot of pages on the FSP400-60GLC in chinese.

Forgot to mention, I had thought of disconecting the 8cm fan and instead ducting and connecting a 12cm fan in front of it. That's one of the reason why the amount of holes at the bottom makes a diference.

A 300watt GLC is available at newegg.(along with the greenpowers)

I know manufacturers specs say little but:

• The 120mm fanned greenpowers (GLN) are "Under 25dBA low noise design".
• The 80mm fanned GLC's are "Under 40dBA noise design at full load".

Combined with the stamped exhaust grille and the restrictive intake I doubt the GLC's are optimised for low noise. (Nothing a bit of modding can't fix though )

If you want to know for sure you could check out Mike's review of the FSP400-60GLN.

Was about 25dBA at low loads and climbed to around 40dBA I believe at 400w. Definitely not as quiet as a Seasonic, but it's got potential. With a low-speed Yate Loon sleeve it should really shine.

How would reading the review of the GLN tell me things for sure about the GLC? (The subject under discussion here.)

Yeah, sorry I misread your post. I thought you were asking about the noise of the GLN and GLC. I was just pointing out that there was a reference for true GLN noise, but apparently you already know this.

It looks like NCIX will have some appliance-grade GLN's and GLC's.

The noise difference looks to be more like 30db vs 40db.

I don't think the stamped exhaust grill is a big deal, it's almost as open as a wire grill. I would not remove it, because I think I'd only use this PSU in a P180, so instead I'd remove that 8cm fan and instead duct the lower chamber fan to the back of the PSU.
