Is this safe? (antec p180 and antec 500w SP concern)

Hey, I'm using TWO of the interior silent fans of the Antec p180 case (the rear and top ones), running on LOW.

The PSU I'm using is an antec 500W smart power.

And, my current set up is as thus:

AMD 4200 dual core CPU
2 x NVidia Geforce 6600GT's (in SLi)
Asus A8N Sli premium mobo
200 GB IDE HDD
2GB Corsair RAM

So, my question is, do I have enough power, or is it safe to have this many components active, with my current PSU? So far all seems fine, but you never know.

Incidently does anyone know of a program that checks how much percent of power your PSU is using? Thanks

a 400w psu would be more than enough

The PSU is fine.

I would suggest taping up the holes around the PSU exhaust, as this will make sure that all of the air the PSU is expelling is being drawn through the front of the case, and no re-circulating its exhausted air.

I would also suggest putting the HDD in the bottom section if it is not already in there, and remove the upper HDD section, this will aid airflow through the top section, and make certain the HDD is being cooled well, this wont make the PSU fan ramp up at all.

Then all you need to do is get quieter gpaphics card fans :)

Yeah, that system's max power draw is no more than 200W, and probably significantly less than that. You have tons and tons of headroom on that PSU.

I borrowed a Watt-measurer a while agoe and checked my computer.

P4 [email protected]
eVGA 7900GT
2xSamsung 250Gb
2Gb DDR
Audidgy 2
2 casefans

Max consumed was 211W

You PSU could run my speakers (41-114W) and my monitor (45W) without problem ;-)
