Looking for a new quieter PSU

Hey guys,

The last of the noisy parts in my video editing station is my PSU and I'm getting ready to replace it. Right now I have a Ultra X-Finity 600w thing with 2 80mm fans in it. But I have questions about the amount of power I really need. Here are the system specs:

Case:
Chenbro SR105-68

Mobo:
Tiger i7525 (S2672) S2672ANR

Processors:
2 - Intel XEON 3.0GHZ 1M 800FSB EM64T mPGA 604

Monitors:
2 - 20â€

I want to know if you think that my system could make it, stability wise, with just a 500w PSU?

I'm considering the following units:
Nesteq Semi-Fanless ASM 520W Quiet Power Supply
Scythe Kamariki II 550W Quiet Power Supply
SeaSonic M12 SS-500HM ATX12V/ EPS12V 500W

What do you all think?

I think you could easily make do with a 350-400W even. I don't think anyone has really done much reviewing on the first 2 psus. Obviously seasonic is a well known quantity and the recommendation of a lot of people. I'd definitely pick the M12 over an unknown psu.

You think 400w is enough for 2 Xeon procs, 3 HDDs and a DVD-ROM? Hmm? I'm sure the 3 HDDs only eat about 30w. I can't imagine the optical eating much more. The video card is PCIe but doesn't require a power supply. But my big concern is the power for 2 Xeons during rendering.

Well, it doesn't seem to have to have so much power when I really think about it. But mobo requires a "dual rail" PSU. That should be just about all of them in todays market. But I do want to make sure that the new PSU is also quiet.

Sure, at most those Xeons will consume perhaps 200-220W at load(They're also lower clocked Xeon's), and even that would be a rare situation. A lot of people run high end video cards that can consume more power than any xeon would. Anyways assuming price is no object, I'd vote for the M12 or S12, both are 80plus certified and likely to be extremely quiet.

I did some google searches for Dual Xeon workstations and looked over the specs for them. The PSU's seems to range from 400W to having the option for 1000W!!! But the average seems to 460 - 500W. So I think that I'll look for a PSU in that range. Thanks again guys.
