Gigabyte is releasing 2 models of PSUs that uses softwarecontrol, might be good for silence :)

550w model looks interesting. From what I can gather, the GT variants have these additional features:

* Software control PSU, for maximum performance
* Adjustable alarm settings for system health

...whatever those are. Hopefully SPCR review will follow shortly. :lol:

What exactly is being controlled by software? I tried to download the manual to find out, but their servers are all slower than molasses in winter.

How this works? In brief, it manages the following: output voltages and load on each rail, power fan speed tweak, localized or preset temperature monitors, power supply lighting control, proximity warning bells and even present user modes for performance, normal use or silent operation. This equates to absolute manageability.
