Hello,

My PSU, Nexus NX-4000 (400Watt) click, is causing booting problems.

Therefor I need a new good silent PSU

I don't know what I should buy these days. There have been a lot new models on the market. My motherboard has a 20pin plug and not the new standard 24pins.

This is the system specs:
- Intel P4 3,2Ghz (socket 478)
- 3x Hitachi 500GB Harddisk STAA II
- ATI X850XT PE (AGP)
- 2x 1GB Kingston (standard memory)
- INTEL D865GBF Motherboard
- Creative Audigy 2ZS Soundcard
- 1x USB PCI-card
- 1x Intel LAN PCI-card
- 1x DVD-rom
- 1x DVD-rw
- Scanner
- Printer

I would like to know what is a good PSU for this old baby? I prefer a silent PSU. I don't need a PCI-e vga connector, because the motherboard only have one AGP slot.

I read an article about problems with 80Plus PSU's in older systems. I don't know if this is also in my case.

Any advice is welcome because.

Kind Regards,
Jordi
Holland.

Ain't efficiency related problem... that Nexus is half light year away from modern PSUs.
And that's also the probable cause, it's 12V output is s****y weak!
Three HDs can themselves draw near 100W peak from it during startup.
(try taking one HD away and see if problem stays)

Something in same wattage class would be well enough for any one graphic card rig.

Hi, I would suggest Seasonic S12II-380 or any other S12 you can get easily. They are very quiet, good quality, reliable and not too pricey, even "baby" 330w model will power your rig no problem.
