By the way is it me or is HX520 quieter than the VX450. Check out

If you're in the market for a new power supply I recommend the Seasonic S12 430W (rev 1) version. without a doubt the most quite unit on the market (that uses a fan) and with superb cooling.

cheers

mohbana, I agree. You are right.

Corsair HX seems to be noticeably less loud than VX when listening to these samples. :?

Are all tables stating that VX are more silent at low load wrong? :?:

Anyways I have a HX 620 so I am happy if this is true.

and your recommendation goes out explicitely for revision 1 of the s12 430? So i should definitely not get a revision 2?

Yes, that said; it doesn’t mean that rev 2 is bad (it’s not) but compared to rev 1 it do fall short, so if you have the opportunity to get the rev 1 then get it. They're still around, even though they become harder to find by the day.

Edit:
Do not forget to include the amount of wattage your system draw prior to purchase.

If they both measured 22dB, shouldn't they be very close to the same amount of noise? Could be due to a difference in recording technique?

With relatively modest loads I can't really tell any difference between the units hence I assume the question is rather academic unless the load becomes an issue.
