SeaSonic psu fan rpm monitor?

Post by canthearyou » Mon Aug 04, 2008 4:20 pm

I chose SeaSonic S12 II SS-430GB for my recent build, but could not find a connection for rotation monitoring. Is this typical for psu's with fan management now?

Most PSUs don't have a cable for RPM monitoring. Among the PSUs I have used, only a few Antec models have had one.

My older S12-330 has one. But this SPCR quote from the S12-330 review (sleeved version) should shed some light on the question.

I suspected that might be the reason. My old Seasonic Super Tornado 300 has rpm monitoring and it is always very low. I had to adjust the monitor threshold down to keep alarms silent and this one must be slower.
