What's a good quiet and modular PSU?

What's a good quiet and modular PSU?

Post by Cams » Wed Oct 07, 2009 2:44 pm

I'm after a modular PSU as I have a reasonably low-powered system and do not need all the cables that my current Seasonic SS-550HT has and I'm worried about screwing the motherboard on top of the cables to get them out of the way.

Thanks

If you don't need them you can do one of the following.

Root the wires to where they should go if you were using them and then zip tie them in place. This normally gets them out of the way pretty nicely. (this is my preference)

Stuff them in an empty disk drive bay.

Or if you want to get fancy. Get some heat shrink tubing that is the correct size for you wires. Cut off the cables you don't need. Then fold back each wire on itself and place a piece of heat shrink tubing over the end so the end of the wire is safely inside the heat shrink. Shrink the tube with a heat gun, light bulb (incandescent), lighter or soldering iron (if using the lighter or soldering iron don't put the insulation directly in the flame or directly on the iron).
