Parts question: Case fan 3 pin adapter for 2 pin PS header

Post by loninappleton » Mon Feb 13, 2012 11:45 am

Hello,

I have various parts catalogs from Jameco and such. But I don't know how to look up a part or prepared jumper described below.

The goal is to use a quiet Scythe fan on a power supply which has one of those tiny 2 pin plugs and headers.

Does such a thing exist? I figured I'd look for a reusable product before cutting wires and testing leads to see if this would work.

The jumper would have the two pin board connection one end and a 3 pin male connector on the other. The Scythe would just be bolted onto the cutout for a 120 in fan that came with the PS. That one is high speed and makes the secondary hum which all high speed fans have.

If there's a separate 'parts geek' place a link would be appreciated.

You are a rock star.

I do believe that is the item. Can you say if such a gizmo is available at the local PC store? I think I'd have a look at one here before spending $4.00 plus on shipping. OTOH this place you show may have other things of interest.

This is going on my Bookmarks.

Thanks for the reply.
