An interesting new design in power supplies by Seasonic that was released a few months ago.

It's a fully modular PSU that has the converter/distribution panel attached in a separate module to make cabling more convenient. It's installed by putting the attached module behind the case side panel. Kit Guru did a review:

Techpowerup and Guru3D also reviewed. Looks like Seasonic needs to tweak the fan profile a bit.

I can't personally see any advantage to this particular implementation. There are efficiency advantages in moving the 12V to lower voltage DC conversion further down the line as has been the case for PSU's that do this internally on a separate daughter board but in this way? No, I don't get it. Maybe if it was a smaller form factor PSU size (eg. SFX-L) and then had the conversion being done on the ATX power connector itself like a PicoPSU then this would actually have some real advantages to it. As it is, it's a standard size PSU with a second part that you then need to install somewhere else.

Also, Gold rating? If you are trying to make a cutting edge PSU, why only make it Gold?

Sweclockers' review found that the panel is too high a profile to fit most cases (at least 28mm gap required). Only a select few have sufficient clearance.
