Models go between 320 watt and 500 watt version.You can put the fan in 3 modes:low,high and auto.It appears that under normal load the fan makes around 21 db noise.Looks interesting....

egad! that's huge!

but it might not be the wisest option - you're pretty much stuck with the fan that they give. a 120mm fan psu gives you a wider range of alternatives.

It frustrates me that all new PSU's are 300W+ when a simple 250 or 200W would suffice for most computers.

14cm = 140mm > 120mm

Just found a review of it:http://www.tweaktown.com/document.php?d ... 07&dPage=4

It doesn't say anything about noise but they do test the 3.3V/12V rails for stability.

Probably coz you can use 300W PSU to supply 200W but not the other way around. And larger production runs will drive down the price (for the manufacturer at least).

is this thing sucking air into the case? should't it be putting air out?

Eh?

It will be blowing out just the same as any other PSU. What makes you think different?

The fan and resulting design are interesting, quality seems questionable but it's only one sample.
