I just received my order of 3 such adapters from computergeeks.com, at only $3.65 apiece. Significantly cheaper than Directron. (Total for all 3, about $16 including shipping.)

Also, make sure you read the SPCR article on notebook drives, for some background info. and noise comparisons. Here's the link: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article145-page1.html

I'm planning on ordering a couple of Samsung MP0402H notebook drives from Newegg very soon, for my desktop.

Has anyone used an IDE - SATA converter on a notebook drive, and plugged into the SATA interface on the motherboard?
