Question about hard drive adapter

Do these adapters have holes in the bottom so they can be mounted in a case that uses hard drive trays, such as the SLK3700-BQE?

No; I used to use these and they just hang off the back of the drive.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Do you know of 2.5" -> 3.5" that would allow me to mount the hard drive to the trays in my case?

I don't know why, I've just never really trusted suspension. Hopefully, though, I won't need it with a laptop drive mounted on grommets.

Blah my bad; I thought you meant the converter itself...

When I get back home, I'll try to check if the rails that come with the adapter include the holes on the bottom. I can't recall offhand if they do or not, sorry...

The new adapter I use now doesn't come with mounting rails at all.

Cool, thanks for the help guys. :)

EDIT: Ended up purchasing the adapter kit from Buy.com. $6.79 with free "budget" shipping. We'll see how the service is. Their ResellerRatings is poor (~5), but a lot of the complaints sounded like n00bs bitching about stupid crap, like rebates they didn't receive.

Here's the link if anybody's interested.

I have three of those adapters from Directron.com. I just checked the mounting adapters (which I've never used). There are no bottom holes. There are only the side holes.

As with others, I wouldn't bother using those adapters to hard mount a notebook drive in any case.

Unfortunately, I just don't feel comfortable suspending. I'll probably hard mount it for now, and purchase a 5.25" enclosure at a later time.

Not too bad. Even with the free budget shipping, it was only three business days from the time I ordered to the time I received the adapter. Props to Buy.com and FedEx. Would definitely recommend them.

EDIT: But it doesn't look like the bottom holes line up with the grommets in my SLK3700-BQE. I could line one set up at a time, but Antec's shoulder bolts don't seem to want to screw into the holes. So I guess I'll just drill and tap new holes that line up with those in the Antec HDD trays.
