Hi all,
I was wondering how you guys tie knots using stretchmagic. I did it for a zalman 7000B decoupling mod but I had to superglue the knots to stop them from coming undone. I cant figure out a satisfactory knot for HDD suspension because the knots seem to want to come undone. I did google for knot tieing tips but didnt come up with a useful knot. Any ideas?

I usually just make a million knots until it stops slipping, but there are correct knots you can use.

I don't have stretch magic myself, but what if you hold a match or some kind of flame very briefly to the knot, to let it kind of melt and seal on itself?

What's wrong with superglue? Do you want to untie them at some point in the future?

FWIW, I always use superglue. It's fast and neat, and whenever (if ever) I want to modify my suspension, I simply cut off the Stretch Magic.

I used a small loop of brass metal (smaller than a ring you'd put on your finger), inserted both ends of the elastic into it, and crimped it down tight with some needlenose pliers. It holds very well, without using up a bunch of space or elastic, and I could pry it open if I wanted to take it apart.

Not sure where you'd get the metal loops though... a craft store, maybe.

Thanks for the informative responses, everyone approached the problem slightly differently which is why these forums rock.

rtsai, I did look at that page in my searches but alas I find the stretchmagic to have a tendency to unknot itself. Also, I have sweaty hands which really hampers my dexterity.

ralf, superglue it is then.

swivelguy2, neat idea. I will pick something similar up if i come across it. Until then superglue it is.

Two tight square knots in a row has always worked for me, but I've always used stretch magic for what it's actually intended: making bracelets (go candy ravers!, though it's been a long time since I've done that).
