Cut a ATA cable ?

One (hopefully) easily quaestion : As anyone ever tried to cut of the 2nd connector and cable section off from a ATA cable ? Would it still work ?

Just trying to do little bit of cable management ....

I've used ATA cables with everything after the slave connector cut off, without any ill effects. I've also used ATA cables where the slave connector was accidently pulled off, without any problems either.

So I'd say its fine :)

I've cut off the end beyond the slave connector before, and I also cut off the segment from the motherboard to the slave connector for a really short cable for an antec minuet build, i.e. slave connector to the motherboard, master connector to the dvd drive.

And yes, as mentioned in the other thread, pry off the connector, use a vice or even channellock pliers if you're careful to put connector wherever you want it. I've had success with that several times as well, including 180 connector rotation.
