Try foam (at the bottom of the case, with the drive on top), or Sorbothane. My 180GXP doesn't like being suspended either.

Will that harm the electronic"s on the bothom since its not protected?
And also how to secure the drive from moving in that case?

Get a new drive with fluid dynamic bearings. Within the past year, most drive manufacturers have switched to FDBs.

Put the drive upside down (electronics facing up). Be careful when moving the computer. The cables should provide a degree of security against lateral movement. I believe some members have their drives on foam, with eletronics face down; use the search.

The 7k250 drives all have fdb motors.

I was curious as to how tight the elastic was in your suspension. It didn't look like there was any droop due to the weight of the drive.

As you can imagine, if the suspension still has some elastic "give" in it when the drive is suspended, it will do a better job of isolating the drive's vibrations. The opposite goes for if the elastic is overly firm (too high a "shore" rating): too tight should result in more vibration transmitted.

Just a few thoughts and observations from my own suspension follies.
