Temp Monitoring Samsung SP200 4C

Post by bussoguy » Wed Feb 22, 2006 11:15 pm

I have 2xsamsung SATA SP 200 4C drives in a Raid 0 configuration. Using "Active SMART" software I can monitor the drives for status but not the temperature.
Has anyone been able to monitor the temp of the SP 200 4C hard drive.
If so what software you using.

Thanks for the reply
I have just downloaded Speedfan and unfortunately it doesn't give me any temps of the hard drives themselves. Only the motherboard temps at the 3 fan points I have. I suspect that the samsungs SMART
doesn't include temperature. The samsung site doesn't give much on the SMART sensors in their hard drives

SMART temperature readout in SpeedFan seems to work fine on my SP2504C. Maybe RAID0 messes up the readings, though? I am using a single drive.

Yes I think the raid does muck things up. Not only speedfan but 3 other SMART moitoring progs read the 2xHDs as "HDD-400GB - Si Raid 0 set"
and not as individual 200GB drives.

Motherboard Monitor 5 found the temps of my SP2004C, Seagate 7200.7 and old Maxtor 20Gb drive.

HDD Life also sees their temps, and provides some level of performance estimate.

Tried HDDLife Pro and it says "Hard drive 0, Si raid 0 set, Temperature monitoring not supported " And Hard Drive 1 has same wording.

Don't really understand MBM 5 (like Winnie I'm a bear of little brain)
I get the temps from the three Fan access points on Mobo but all the sensors and diode listings I don't have a clue what they represent . Mobo is a GA KN8 939 ultra so is reasoably recent.

Obviously I need to do a lot more research on my mobo. BUT am not confident that temps in HDD's in Raid 0 config will be displayed.

thanks for post
