Do 2.5" drives come in different heights?
I recenly bought a 30Gb IBM Travelstar HD from eBay to replace the 10Gb Travelstar in my old Dell Inspiron 4000 PIII 700. It arrived, I took out the old drive, went to put in the new drive - and it doesn't fit! It seems too high to slide into the enclosure in the side of the Dell. The old drive is shorter by about 4mm (from memory).
My question is am I being chicken and not pushing in the new drive hard enough, or are there different types of 2.5" drive form factor with different heights?
Thanks for your help!

As above yes. Today's version is 9.5mm, a few years ago there was 12.5mm about, and the caddy in my old Toshiba Satelite could handle 16mm so I presume that existed at some stage!SixToes wrote:are there different types of 2.5" drive form factor with different heights?

Fujitsu's Server lineup has several 2.5" SAS drives.
