Frizzbee Hard disk Cooler from Nexus

Post by Slaugh » Sat Jan 06, 2007 11:01 pm

Nexus is now offering a HDD cooler called the "Frizzbee Hard disk Cooler". It's supposedly inaudible but I'm a bit skeptical. It uses a 60mm fan (sleeve bearing) @ 1500 RPM, an Nexus claims that the noise level is below 15 dBA. If it's true, it could be a good complement to HDD suspension, but 15 dBA sounds a bit exaggerated...

Specifications:
  • Model: FRZ-3500
  • Dimensions: 101.6 x 94.6 x 17.8 mm
  • Fan Dimensions: 60 x 60 x 15 mm
  • Bearing Type: Sleeve bearing
  • Rated Voltage: 12 Volts
  • Rated current: 0.03 A
  • Rotation speed: 1500 RPM
  • Acoustic noise: Inaudible! (<15dB(A)
  • Airflow: 6.4 CFM
Here are two pictures of the "Frizzbee":

You mount this thing at the bottom of the HDD? So it is a sleeve bearing fan that will spin horizontally blowing air up for 3 years? I might actually need such a thing.
