Seagate's Momentus 7200.2 Launches

Post by acaurora » Wed Mar 14, 2007 8:08 am

I was wondering, with the recent release of the 7200.2 series from Seagate, does anyone know if it will be perhaps any quieter than the 7200.1 series? I have a 100 GB 7200.1 in my T60 Widescreen, and i find that the idle noise is a bit on the high side. Granted yes I know that it is a 7200 RPM notebook hard drive, the 7K100 that I have my 6 year old laptop (also 100 GB) is quieter during idle, but the Seagate definately wins in load noise.

Because there are many reviews and benches showing that the 5400.3 with Perpendicular Recording comes very close to a 7200 RPM notebook hard drive in terms of most areas, does this mean that a 7200 RPM notebook hard drive with Perpendicular Recording will be even FASTER? and does anyone know if the 160 GB version may be just a SINGLE platter vs 2 ? ;)
