Drivestation Duo fanmod

I recently bought a Drivestation Duo. Apart from some setup it performs as expected. However I would like to mod the fan. Has anybody attempted this ?

I was thinking of replacing the internal disks with samsung spinpoints instead - but I found out that it already used those disks!

Well, like any product, you will void the warranty? It could benefit from some tin snip action:

What size is that fan -- 60-70mm if I go by what it looks like?

I have used their TerraStation and it had a wire grill, and a nicely controlled Adda (92mm?) fan. It was fairly quiet out of the box.
