I'm scared to ask with two 40mm fans...

Does anyone have one of these, and how loud is it? Would it be obnoxious for a PC under the desk? Currently I'm just running 120mm and 140m tri-cools on low.

Is there such a thing as a quiet 40mm fan if one was to buy this and look at replacing the stock fans? I'm assuming the high/low switch on this just undervolts the fans from 12V when on low.

I had this but ended up throwing it in the trash. When the fans were on low they were not to bad bot not silent. My problem with this was not the sound but the cheap construction. I had 3 of these and had the handles for break off on two. I had springs popout of another two and when they came the plastic piece for the LED's were loose in the box.

Supermicro has a bigger model, with 80mm fans.

There is also another model from enhance-tech called the quadrpack which is much higher quality than the startec. I also have three of those. I was using it to house 4 10K sas drives and it kept them cool enough but was by no means silent. I ended up putting vr's in one, assorted ssd drives in one and then the savvio's in the other. For the SSD one I snipped the fan cable. My goal is to go with a 12 drive SSD array which will allow me to stop all of the fans.
