WD6400AAKS + scythe quiet drive temperatures
My project was to have at least 2tb of storage in my system. First i thought that lower chamber in p182 will not hold vibration of 3 hard drives (WD6400AAKS + 2x WD10EADS), but i was very surprised when I installed them, no vibration at all (believe me, I tested case with only 1TB HDD and no change with vibration). In system I have three slip streams (2x500rpm and one 700rpm), so my system is VERY quiet when it is under my desk. I was surprised that I didn't hear two 1TB drives, only 640GB's whining is bothering me at night, I can't stand it. Will Quiet Drive in 5.25 silence idle noise (with no vibrations) of that hard drive and keep the temperatures under 40*C? Now two 1TB drives have around 31*C and 640GB 34*C (I have NB XE1 @5V in front of the hard drives, grills are cut).
I hope someone with same hard drive and Scythe Quiet Drive will answer, because I am very concerned about HDD temperatures. My computer is on 24/7 so after that time non active cooled hard drive like mine will be too hot.
Bye

under 40c? i doubt it. You should be able to keep them under the manufacturers maximum operational temp though which is likely 55c.
I think when i had my drives in a SQD they ran around 45-50c.
I just suspend now, i've found drive enclosures do very little in the way of quieting hard drives and that removing vibration works much better.

What are the temperatures in 5.25' bay, have you tried it? Does it cause vibrations?
Now if I look at my p182, I can't imagine putting Quiet Drive on the floor of upper chamber.
@LodeHacker: Yeah, I heard about it very much too, about "being silent". I doubt that any Spinpoint F1 will come close to WD Caviar Green series without some HDD enclosure. So I guess I'll have to try Quiet Drive first before changing hard drive itself.

Sure, it fits with no problems. I removed that middle fan and put 92mm in front (with grills cutted), much better temperatures...
Edit: i think we misunderstood: i have Quiet Drive suspended in 5'25 bays (near optical drive), but it will sure fit on lower chamber (near PSU), even with middle fan installed.
