What drive is in the WD Elements 640GB external?

Post by Ch0z3n » Fri Apr 10, 2009 4:38 am

Model: WDE1UBK6400N

Staples has them pretty cheap and I was wondering what drive was actually in them. Looked around google for a while and couldn't find anything and WD's website was even less useful.

Any ideas?

TIA

My guess would be some variant of the WD6400AACS. There's no reason for an external USB drive to have WD640AAKS level performance.

That is what I would guess too, but it says it is 7200rpm. Then again, the grren power drives say they are 5400-7200rpm.

So far the most information that I can come up with, and I am not sure if it si all accurate:

640gb
2 Platter
7200rpm (claimed)
8mb Cache
5600rpm (reported)
