Too much vibration with a Scorpio Blue?

Post by syrian_gamer » Fri Jul 24, 2009 9:15 pm

I just upgraded my macbook pro (13") hard drive from the stock 160 to the Scorpio blue 500gb. At first it sounded much louder when it was out of the case. However once the case was closed it was quieter, but still seemed a tad too loud for my liking, but still very quiet.

I noticed that when I put pressure on the palm rest, the noise becomes quieter. Im guessing its a vibration issue more than the drive itself. Do you guys have any idea how i could silence the hard drive with in the case of the macbook? i dont have much room at all, but maybe something to keep the pressure constant? maybe a very very ultra thin piece of foam between the drive and the case? any ideas would be appreciated.

Probably not. Most laptops hard-mount their drives to the rest of the frame. You should RMA the drive to see if the replacement doesn't vibrate as much.
