Quiet hd for macbook pro

Post by syrian_gamer » Sat Aug 22, 2009 6:30 pm

Hey guys,

So i recently decided to upgrade my hard drive in my unibody 13" macbook pro. The original was a fujitsu MJA2160BH 160gb hard drive. this thing is dead quiet, and barely makes an audible sound (im talking about at 2 am when the house is dead silent). I decided to try both the Scorpio Blue and Seagate momentus. However they both have a humming sound (idle disk spin) that is significantly louder than the stock hard drive. Im guessing because it has more platters. Is there a drive thats bigger than 160 gb that wont be audible? or be extremely quiet, as quiet as my fujitsu? Ive searched the forums and found nothing. Also im not getting a SSD ;) So any quiet 250/320 gb 2.5" drives out there? perhaps single platter :?
