8+ years Optical DVD RW Drive worth replacing?

Post by T K » Thu Jul 25, 2013 5:14 am

How have ODs improved? Some quieter?

Should an already existing, at least 8 years old DVD RW be changed with a new system?
What'd be recommended?

The internal ones haven't improved much at all, as focus has been on making them cheap to manufacture. Wait until you need to replace it, if ever.
An external DVD unit could be useful to have around just in case one needs to hook one up to a system. More and more notebooks don't have them built in, and there's often little need to include one into a new desktop build today.

Considering that.

How's
- BUFFALO MediaStation 8x Portable DVD Writer with LED Power Indicator - Disk drive - DVD±RW (±R DL) / DVD-RAM - 8x8x5x - Hi-Speed USB – external (DVSM-PC58U2VB-EU)
?
