Mmm .. does anyone know of a dvd rw/cdrw combo drive? (Preferably one that can handle both the + as - standard) Of course I would very much like it to be silent, duh. And erhm, if possible, not too pricy?

Hm, I thought all DVD+- RW drives did CD-RW. I know my Sony DRU-510A (4x DVD+/-RW) and the new Plextor PX708 does too. IIRC, the NEC I looked at did too.

Anyways, I think the Sony DRU-510A is pretty quiet when burning DVDs (at least up to 2x, I don't have any 4x media). It's noisier when burning CDs though.

All dvd burners also cd's.

But not all do the dvd-R and dvd+r formats.

DVD+R/W
DVD-R/W
DVD+MRW (MT Rainier for DVD+R)
CDR
CDRW
CDMRW (Mt Rainier for CDRW)

Ok, quiet (not silent) operation.

Burns decent quality.

Is not the cheapest, but comes with a 2 year warranty (outside US).

Plextor PX-708A

Recommended.

regards,
Halcyon
