Anything out there?? Slim Dvd-R External

I was looking for an external dvd-r or a dvd/cdr combo that was slim and required no external power. I could only find the ones at www.expnet.com I was looking forward to using it with my IBM T40. I hear they are noisy. Does anyone have any experience with such things?? Please let me knwo. Thanks
