Like the topic says... even better if you have the Zalman NB cooler too.
i didn't take any profile shots, sorry
but from memory, there was about 1-2mm clearance between the 7000 and the nb heatsink, which is a regular aluminium jobby.
instead of guessing by looking at pictures, i suggest looking at the compatibility table on the zalman website - this is what i did, and it gave me the confidence to buy the 7000 as it said that it'd fit on my motherboard.

I know the Zalman will not fit with the current NB HS I currently have... I was thinking of a Zalman ZM-NB47J for the NB and have the fins of the 7000 run through the NB cooler, or modify the NB cooler.
If all else fails, I gotta get a CPU cooler that will work and is pretty close in performance.

i think the arctic cooling hsf's as well as the thermalright offerings are definitely worth a look, regardless of whether or not you've decided on the 7000 already.
having said that, i do know of someone who was in a similar predicament as you, and simply nibbed off some of the prongs on his nb47 so that the 7000 would fit. doesn't seem so hard to do and seems like a practical solution. if that seems like too much work, go for the nb32 which is shorter.

I have no problem cutting the NB HS, I just don't know how good that will look, cut aluminum and the blue coating. I hear the shorter one does not make full contact with the chipset...? Also, would the shoter one clear and be adequate for cooling during over clocking? I would like to install it using the stock mounts...
thanks again!
thanks again!
Case is a Sonata. Mobo is DFI Lanparty Ultra. NB HS is the stock alu thing.
Here's a closeup:
You can't see it from this pic but there's a row of 4 high capacitors UNDER the Zalman. Despite everyone saying it would fit, I just didn't believe the capacitors would clear. They did- barely.
