CPU Power Consumption Charts

Post by Jools » Thu Dec 23, 2004 10:50 am

I stumbled across this today, buried in a Pentium 570 review on THG.

Just look at the results for the 939pin 90nm Winchester A64's:

3W idle
30W load

(Apologies if someone has posted this before).

Thanks for the good find!

The chart is useful, even if it's not necessarily 100% correct.

While the relative rankings may be correct, I wouldn't trust those figures as absolute measures, as they appear not to be in line with measurements done by several other parties.

Also, it's been noted that prime95 doesn't produced the highest CPU load or temperatures, unless used in a very specific manner. CPU Burn K7 produces a few degrees centigrade higher temps.

So, I'd add a few percentages to each CPU's max load.
