No matter where you mount the fan, it's going to screw up the airflow anyways. Sideways = heats up other column. Dead on = ineffective.

Is it just me or is thermaltake releasing a product a week! Nearly 700 grams with that kind of height is gonna be a lot of torque. I dont care what kindof mounting/back plate you have, eventually the force gets spread through the motherboard mounting holes. Scary stuff.

On a serious note, it seems that Thermaltake has been coming out alot of heatsinks n cases for the market periodically (they're probably very rich), most of them having radical designs. If only they did more research on heatsink designs, reduce those bling bling, rehire the marketing department and get rid of copycats in their company, things would be better for them

But if they did research, instead of just stealing designs, they wouldn't be nearly as rich! And if they got rid of the bling, their target market would stop buying their products altogether!!

I actually somewhat like that design.

For a first step, they need to start thinking about weight and backpressure.

If I
ever used it I would never mount it in a tower!

There's a reason why they took a picture of it with the motherboard horizontal ;P

I guess it has more in common with Pringles than we thought...even the size.

It could be popular with case modders... attach the two sides to a high voltage source and you get your very own lightning effect!
'Shock' your friends with this 2-in-1 HS. You'll have the 'flash'iest case in your town!
...yeah, I should stop now.

Any ideas about when/where reviews will be popping up? If a low-speed A64 could be cooled by this w/o a fan right next to it, it really would be a good option. I don't think I've seen any HS quite that massive before (though Coolermaster's is close, and probably heavier).
...they also don't show how it mounts in detail. That's one thing Alpha, TR & Zalman have much better than most.
I also wonder how much it will rely on an effective exhaust fan...knowing TT, it might not cool a C3 w/o a loud fan somewhere nearby.

Check the bling-bling OCing sites.
I can't imagine why anyone here would want to review it.
It's extremely top-heavy design is flawed from the start (and it uses the same crappy mounting system of the already reviewed "Silent" Tower). I wouldn't even attempt to use it unless you plan on running it in a desktop-style case so the mobo is laying flat.

As already said, no tower for me.
But if it uses that same mounting mechanism...then I'll wait for Zalman (or I could go w/ a Reserator) or TR to come out with something similar.

Are you supposed to slide the fan in between the two heat sinks?
How do you attach it?

Tne fan is attached via bracket to one of the sets of fins. no shroud. If the HS doesn't perform well in true silence, a nonshrouded fan on one side will not do too much good, as has been proven true in about every design with fins that close together.

the pictures lower down on the page show this HS vertically-mounted. the height of the HS seems to be around 120mm. so it's not as monstrously huge as it may seem.
with a shroud around the HS, leading to and achored on the rear exhaust, it could possibly get additional stability and reduce the torq on the MB mount. but they don't have a shroud like that. i wonder how many units they'll sell...

It looks like an architect's drawing (a
bad architect's drawing) of the Ritz-Carlton in Podunk.
Really couldn't think of a better illustration of the absurd state of processor heat.

ROFL
I guess even the heatsink itself knows it's too heavy.
