Looking at this photo,
To me it looks like the heatpipes on the mini are in a better configuration than on the original. The 12 pipes are evenly distributed around the fins instead of having 4 central "hot spots" like on the original.
Not sure if it will make any difference but it looks like it would dissipate more heat per fin than the original. I know the more fins on the original will make it dissipate more heat over all but I'm looking forward to seeing some reviews of the mini. If it performs well and is in the $25-$30 range, I'd like to replace my si-128 in my NSK-2400 with one of these.

Agreed -- the fins also start lower down, which lowers the CG even more. Looks like a winnah!SouthPaw wrote:Looking at this photo,

I think that the Mini Ninja or "Minja" as someone called it will have a very good performance with the same amount of airflow as the Original Ninja. It wont be as good, but its heatpipes are better spread out, so will give better heat distribution to the fins, this will help offset having 6 fewer fins and a smaller surface area per fin, but I expect the Mini Ninja to still have a big punch. and of course fit into a 2400NSK.

Still no specs on the Scythe web site. A Nexus 80mm fan weighs 85 grams, most fans weigh more. I'd rather have the exact weight of the heatsink but I guess its just under 500 grams?rpsgc wrote:Scythe Ninja Mini
Dimensions: 110 x 110 x 115 mm (~ 4,33 x 4,33 x 4,52 in)
Weight: 580g (~ 20,46 oz)
Scythe includes a 2300rpm 80mm fan (claimed airflow of 32,2CFM) and allows mounting of a 92mm fan.

Scythe Ninja, Nexus 120 ($50) 20 9 16 0.20 788* (665+fan)
http://www.nexustek.nl/92mm_real_silent_case_fan.htm lists 98.5g

If the Ninja-Mini with a 5v fan can out cool a XP-90/Nexus 92 at 12v or a XP-120/Nexus 120 at 7v then I'm interested. It can't just beat one of them by a hair with the same fan and voltage it has to be significantly cooler at the same noise level to win me over.
In other words if the °C/W MP is below 0.30 when the noise level is below 25 dBA measured as SPCR would... eh screw it, I'll just wait for a proper review...
Will Mini Ninja fit the Fusion?
Will mini Ninja fit the Antec Fusion/V2/Black?
The minja is 115mm in height and although I can't find the dimensions of the Antec Fusion V2, it seems that it should be the same as the NSK2400.
According to http://www.silentpcreview.com/article591-page1.html the chassis of NSK2400 is 5.25 inches or 133mm in height (6 inches with feet). That leaves only 18mm for the motherboard and cpu. Is that enough space?

It showed up for sale on Scythe's US Website over the weekend.

Im going to wait untill it arrives at a store and hope the price is lower. $49 is a little more then I was expecting.

The only thing that's changed in the manufacturing costs is a very few less aluminum cooling fins. The bending/assembly of the heat-pipes is slightly more complicated. The potential market is a lot smaller. It's a boutique item, not a mass-market item.practal wrote:$49 is a little more then I was expecting.

per that german eBay ad it is 580g "ohne Lüfter" or without fan. So the Mini Ninja is considerably heavier than a XP 120 or SI 120.dhanson865 wrote:I'd rather have the exact weight of the heatsink but I guess its just under 500 grams?rpsgc wrote:Scythe Ninja Mini

Still waiting for that first review. Hoping they will test it with a 92mm fan at about 1350 RPM or about 25 to 30 CFM
The 80mm stock fan will have about the same cooling power as a 92mm Nexus (or any other 1200 RPM 92mm fan).
Of course if I got one I'd slap a DFS922512L on it at 5V (or speedfan it). Not sure what the RPMs would be.
