Need a low-profile 478 HS

Post by cyberspyder » Tue Apr 10, 2007 3:31 pm

NOT the Zalman CNPS8000

MUST be able to cool a 3.0Ghz P4 Prescott

Must NOT be higher than 85mm (or 65mm with conventional HSFs)

Must be silent, or can be modded so it's silent, but STILL gives good performance

Brendan

EDIT: Anyone tried the Silverstone NT03 or NT05? If so, what are your opinions on it?

EDIT 2: The NT05 seems to be better, couple with this: http://www.svc.com/fa-7080.html

I'd try for the NT-06 and then hang a 120*15mm fan underneath it.

Or, wait for the Zalman CNPS 8700. Heatpiped version of the 7700, basically.

Top marks for reading the thread. The SI-128 is 11.6cm tall with a 25mm fan.,

Unless it can be ran passive (I have a 92mm exhaust), I can't use it.

And not by much. Pity, even the XP-90 is too high.

Seriously that's about the only big one. On NewEgg that are a couple of all copper ultra low profile Dyantrons and ThermalTake

But I would expect best cooling with the XP-120.

What about the original Intel cooler (does it have copper in the center?) and a quite fan?

Not pretty but its all copper, 575grams, $18 in stock. Interesting.

I think the Zalman CNPS7500 is my last resort.

Sure you don't want to sell your case and get a slightly taller one?

You may be better off with 65nm processor.

Also consider building a duct.

It's a S478 3.0 Prescott...I don't think the chipset supports it.
