Xigmatek Bolt In Kit required for AM2 mobo?

Post by ckang008 » Sun Sep 21, 2008 11:11 pm

Hi,

I recently got a Xigmatek Achilles S1284C CPU cooler for my AMD 4850e. Currently, I am using the supplied clip to install the CPU cooler to my motherboard. Was wondering if the bolt in kit that xigmatek sells seperately will yield better temperature. Also, we also like to know if getting the Bolt in get for my cpu cooler will allow me to rotate the cooler to different position.

Thanks

The mounting system for the AMD does not require bolt-thru unlike Intels. AMD is already using backplate+screw combo on retention kit. The retention bracket is more than sturdy enough to give more than adequate pressure.

So far Xigmatek's only bolt thru is for LGA775. Maybe soon they will release bolt-theu for AM2's aswell.

Cool. Is there a way to rotate the heatsink? I'm interested in installing the cooler so that the fan for the cpu will be blowing towards the case fan as oppose blowing downwards.

thx

Unfortunately yet there is no way to rotate heatsunk in AM2 socket for Xigmatek coolers.
