Is the XP-90 compatible with a Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3HP?

Post by Michael Sandstrom » Mon Feb 09, 2009 3:58 pm

I just ordered a new Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3HP motherboard. I have a spare XP-90 lying around. If I order Thermalright's AM2 Rev B retention bracket will I run into a compatibility problem?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I think you're good to go. There's nothing obviously in the way. The nearest memory slot looks far enough away, so I think you'd get 4 dimms in there.

You are right Vertigo. There are no clearance problems. I installed the retention bracket with my XP-90 and all is well. Thanks for your reply.

No worries, I have one of those myself. I can understand why you wanted to reuse it, socket 939 lasted such a short time and those heatsinks were pretty expensive a few years ago. I'm glad it worked out for you.
