SLK-900U £60 / 7000Cu £40 / 7000AlCu £33 / 6500BCu £40?

These are the best prices I can find in the UK including delivery.

I like the 7000Cu / AlCu but from past experience with Zalman 92mm fans I have found them very disappointing even when set at 5volts (20dBA according to Zalman, same with the new specs). So not being able to put whatever fan I like is a big downfall.

Does anyone know if this new fan on the 7000Cu / AlCu is quieter than their previous 92mm offerings, which is supplied with most Zalman HS?

Which one would you go for?

Note. I don't mind if it comes with a fan or not since I have so many spare ones lying around doing nothing. :D

I've got a 7000Cu, and in silent mode, it's without a doubt silent, and the cooling performance is stellar in either mode. The 7000AlCu has been favorably reviewed as the same performance for $10US less. Certainly recommend either of them.

Drawback to these would be, I suppose, the fact that the fan is integral and not replaceable.

Do you have experience of Panaflo 80mm L1A's?

If you do, how does the fan compare to it?

Thanks for the input.

The 7000 fan is not in the same league as a Panaflo. Zalman themselves rate it at 20 dBA in silent mode and 25 dBA at normal. It's 4 dBA noisier than the Panaflo at 12V, according to the mfg specs. I think the difference at 5V is even bigger. Having said all that, the 7000 stock fan is much better than the Zalman 80 or 92mm standalone fans. At 5V, it is pretty quiet, probably good enough for lots of people, especially inside a decent case.

Thanks for that Mike, I guess the SLK-900 it is then. I am looking for the quietest solution possible. I wanted to save some money, but I guess if you want the best you got to pay for it.

Damn, next on my shopping list is a SilenX 400w PSU. It's hurting my pockets.

good choice. I have a slk900 and even with very low airflow (like noname fan@5v ~1000RPM) you will get decent temps. Just be careful, not all slk900 are smooth, i had to do some lapping on mine. (btw it did not improve much, even if i also made the cpu to full copper..)

It really sucks how they're so expensive in the UK..
I;ve been looking at the SLK-900U and the Alpha 8942T.. would really like the SLK-900U with a 92mm fan but would settle for a 8942 with a panaflo.
The annoying thing is that the SLK-900U is massively overpriced in the UK compared to the US or even europe.

Anyway - you may like to consider the Alpha 8942T at about 36BGP (excl del) from overclockers.co.uk.
