Hi guys,
I'm going to buy an A64 X2 6000+ or 6400+ for my system shortly (probably 6000+). Do you guys think my XP-90 + 92mm Nexus fan can cool these sufficiently? I've been very happy with my current configuration concerning noise and temperature levels. My 4000+ is running @ 42°C right now with the fan turned down quite a bit.
And what about my PSU? I think the 4000+ is 62W and the 6000+ and 6400+ 125W. I'd like to upgrade my graphics card as well in the future, but not yet.
Thank you.

The X2 6000+ and 6400+ are very power hungry chips. You would be doubling the CPU's power usage in you system - both at idle and load. I think you would be fine with that XP-90, as long as you don't mind noticeably higher load temperatures. From a power standpoint, you would be better off buying a Phenom 2 920. Its load power usage should be similar to a 6000+, and its idle draw should be lower.
Your power supply will be just fine, provided you stay away from the most power hungry Nvidia cards, such as the GTX 295. With a new processor, you shouldn't be drawing much more than 225W at load.

The thing is that my motherboard doesn't support Phenom (Grrr...) and shops seem to be selling their last supplies of AM2 CPUs, so it's now or never if I don't want to buy second-hand.
Currently the 3.1GHz A64 X2 6000+ (ADV6000DOBOX/ADV6000IAA5DO) looks like the most attractive choice to me. It's 65nm/89W instead of 90nm/125W so it should produce less heat and consume less power, right?
