Scythe Ninja 3, Shuriken Rev B. or Samurai ZZ in Mini ITX?

Post by mudkip » Sat Sep 18, 2010 7:38 am

Hello,

Currently I have the Intel stock cooler running and it's too noisy.
I saw a few cooler which might fit in my case but I can't decide which one would be the best for my setup.

My specs:

Processor:i5 750 @ 3,0Ghz 1.04v / 3,6Ghz 1.13v
Motherboard:Gigabyte GA-H55N-USB3
Cooling:Intel stock
Memory:4GB OCZ Platinum XTC Low Voltage 1600MHz C7 @ 2000MHZ C8 1.70v
Video Card:nVidia 7650GS with passive cooling
Hard Disk:Intel Postville 80GB SSD / Western Digital Green 500GB
Case:Lian Li PC-Q08B
PSU:Nexus NX-5000 R3 530W

The top fan (120mm) in my case is running @ 5v and the front (140mm) is running @ 7v. So airflow is quite good for a Mini ITX case.

Which CPU cooler, the Ninja 3, Shuriken Rev B. or Samurai ZZ, would peform the best in my case?

Just to make sure - is this your box?

How are you going to fit Ninja 3 in there?

For what it looks to me, you could fit the Shuriken in there. ZZ will not fit prolly, too.

It looks to me like the Ninja would foul the PSU when the PSU is mounted? Unless its a hella thicker case than it seems in the photo.

Care to let us know how? No, really, I'm intrigued. Do you mean you can fit the cooler "over"* the PSU?

Hehehe, yeah, there's no way you're getting a full size Scythe Ninja in there without some serious modifications to the internal layout of the case. Maybe a Ninja Mini, but not the big daddy.
