How does a Zalman CNPS-7000A AlCu compare to a Thermalright SLK-800A with an 80 mm Panalflo 12L1A at 7V in terms of cooling efficiency and noise levels>
(AMD Athlon XP 2500+ on an Asus A7N8X v2 Deluxe mobo in an Antec Sonata case)

I've got an asus A7N8X-X with XP1700+ overclocked to ~XP2800+ speeds (2.2ghz)
I use a 7000A-ALCU and it cools better at the lowest setting (5v) and 2.2ghz then the amd stock heatsink fan did at full speed and at the stock speed
I'm very happy with it...
just make sure there is some space between the edge of your motherboard and your power supply..

If you have the zalman at 5v, it'll be a tiny bit louder than the thermalright w/ l1a @ 7v but it'll cool significantly better.

Not sure there is much scientific value in that comparison since so many things changed at once.I used to have an SLK800/Antec 80mm/Arctic Silver 1 on my Barton 2800. I swapped it for the 7000Cu/Arctic Silver 5. Large temp drop and large noise drop. The 7000Cu is worth the money.
1. Antec is not known to make/rebadge very good fans. In this case we don't know the specs for the Antec fan either. The fan in the 7000A is rather good for a 92mm fan.
2. We have a change of TIM that could give ~2C drop.
3. I assume both fans was running same voltage, and we tried to compare 7V L1A vs fan in 7000A @5V.
First question is: Would an L1A@5V on the SLK800 give sufficient cooling?
We know that this would be more quiet than the 7000A@5V, so if it cools well enough it would be a superior solution.
Going for the 7000A is on the other hand a safe bet if you know it will fit in you chassi and on your motherboard.
