Best cooler for Athlon 64/Socket 754?

Post by pandamonium54 » Wed Jan 07, 2004 11:14 am

Is anything better than the Zalman 7000Cu?
Is there anything good in the sub-$30(USD) range?

I'm thinking about getting an Albatron K8X800 Pro II, which doesn't include a HSF mounting bracket, if that is an issue...

There's a new Alpha PAL out for this socket

I think you can convert Swiftech Heatsinks with a ceonversion kit from Swiftech.

Nothing better than CNPS-7000A-CU (or AlCu) that I know of. I try to stay up on all the tested heatsinks for socket 754. The Swiftech offering is slightly worse both at high speed and clearly worse at low speed.

In fact, for any socket type, CNPS-7000A imho remains unsurpasses for it's combination of good cooling and tolerable noise.

This is supported in combination by the tests done here, at Frostytech and at Overclockers (and my own personal experience with SLK-series).

The lower the fan speed, the more basic rectangular heatsinks with separate fans seem to lose to 7000A in terms of cooling efficiency.
