Made in china from japanese components.

I couldn't find any reference of this model number anywhere in the forums, and only a few on Google.

I take it this is then not a recommended silent fan?

That's not a model designation that's in keeping with Panasonic's Panaflo Fan Model Codes, which is probably why there are few references to it. The "W" at the end could be a typo, or just a non-standard model.

Who's selling it?

It must be a typo.

I found a few on ebay.

Chinese manufactured from Japanese parts, are they gonna be quiet?

Mebbe, mebbe not. Wouldn't bet a lot of money on it though.

I own one, it's great.

Loud as hell at 12V, big CFM. Not sure at the exact voltage/rpm where it goes 'silent', but it's the "3/8th speed" setting on my fan control software (I don't have the rpm wire attached).

I use it in conjunction with a Thermalright SI-120 heatsink. It really is silent at that speed setting, and idles about 5C lower than with a silent nexus fan.
