Speedfan 4.17. New Version.

Post by Bluefront » Mon Nov 01, 2004 11:05 am

This is my lucky day. I down-loaded the newest version of Speedfan, version 4.17, and much to my surprise the fan speed control started working on my system.....ASUS P4R800-V Deluxe. This is the first board I ever owned that that Speedfan could control.....amazing.

So here's what it's doing to my one-fan setup......I set speedfan to 85% on that one fan channel. When you startup, the fan runs at 100% voltage until Speedfan loads, at which time the fan-speed is automatically reduced to 85%. This assures the fan starts spinning.

The fan itself is a 120mm PowerLogic thermal-controlled fan from CompUSA. At about 24C ambient it starts up about 1150rpms. It idles about 1230rpms, and at 100% load speeds up to about 1360rpms. This gives me CPU temps and PSU temps (only one fan here) around 40C max. Almost perfect. I'm happy...... :D

Missed your post......I have yet to get the other two fan channels to respond to Speedfan. I tried several fans...but since the CPU channel is working, I'm satisfied.

FWIW....I tried Speedfan 4.17 on another computer that has an ASUS P4R800-VM board. Speedfan wouldn't work before with version 4.15......now it does. :D

ok, I have the typical Abit NF7S, and I can't set fan speeds, is it normal?

I also have a "Temp3" at minus grades "-48ºC" :?

It's perfectly normal. When you undervolt a CPU so low that you go past 0V and into the negative voltages, the temperature of the die starts to drop commensurately below room temperature.

EDIT: Added smiley to compensate and apologize for my odd sense of humour tonight

Putz - that wasn't very nice! At least add a smiley or something when joking around... funny though ;)

mai9 - The Temp3 value is probably just the result of not having that sensor in your system. You can configure SpeedFan not to display it.
