Panaflo 80mm L1A - producing clicking

Post by itr » Sat Mar 05, 2005 11:16 am

i have swapped my stock sonata psu fan with the panaflo (made in china), however, there is a faint clicking noise. is this normal? i have noticed this clicking noise too with the stock antec 80mm. i was thinking of buying another 80mm panaflo, but instead of a "chinaflo", i would buy a "japflo" instead.

Unfortunately panaflo's seem to have a large variation in quality noise. Of my 3 panaflos, 1 makes much more rumbling/clicking noise undervolted than the others so I moved it to another machine. Just buy a few more and hope for the best or get a nexus.

FYI you can get "Guaranteed made in Japan" 80mm L1A Panaflos at www.jab-tech.com here. Vendor ratings are excellent and I can vouch for them from personal experience with them as well.

Good luck!

Most PSUs use PWM to control the fan speed. PWM tends to produce clicking in a lot of otherwise silent fans.

Two hours ago I swappped a chinese panaflo m1abx for a Japanese panaflo lia from Jab-tech in my seasonic ss 400. The new made in Japan panaflo is a big improvement imho.
